3D CBCT Scanner

At Clear Dental, we want our patients to have the optimal care possible. That’s why we have a new 3D CBCT machine in the clinic! This advanced scanner allows our dentists to see clear, detailed images of your teeth, jaws, and face. This scanner is called a CBCT Dental Scanner, which stands for Cone Beam Computed Tomography.

Unlike regular dental x-rays, our Cone Beam CT scanner shows 3D images of your mouth, and the CBCT Dental X-Ray helps us detect oral issues that normal x-rays cannot. That means we can plan your care more safely and easily with this technology.

What is a CBCT Dental X-Ray?

A CBCT Dental X-Ray is different from the normal X-ray you may have had before. It uses a cone-shaped x-ray beam to take many pictures from various angles and puts those pictures together to create a 3D image.

With Dental 3D Imaging, we are able to view your teeth, bones, nerves, and even soft tissues. It is able to reveal problems that are not visible on a regular X-ray, like infection, cysts, tumors, or bone loss.

How Does the CBCT Dental Scanner Help You?

Our new 3D CBCT Dental Imaging machine offers many advantages for you and your family:

1. Clear, Detailed Pictures

The images created from our 3D imaging scanner are very clear and detailed, which makes it very easy for our Richmond dentist to identify a problem early on. Whether it is impacted teeth, extra canals in roots, infections, or jaw issues, we can see them before they get worse.

2. Better Treatment Planning

Now that we can examine your mouth in 3D, we can treat you with more accuracy. If you require dental implants, braces, root canals or surgery, this is wonderful. With the CBCT Dental Scanner, we are able to accurately measure how much bone size you have and also check where nerves are located. This avoids surprises, which makes treatments safer.

3. Less Radiation

We care about your safety. Our CBCT Dental X-Ray uses much less radiation than a regular medical CT scan. It’s about the same as a normal panoramic dental X-ray. This means you get the information we need with minimal exposure.

When Do We Use CBCT Dental Imaging?

Our 3D CBCT Dental Imaging machine can be used for many treatments:

  • Dental Implants: We use Dental 3D Imaging to check your bone before placing an implant. It helps us pick the optimal spot and angle, so your implant fits perfectly.
  • Root Canals: If you need a root canal, the scanner helps us see all the tiny spaces inside your tooth roots. This makes treatment more accurate.
  • Orthodontics: The images help us plan how your teeth will move and how to straighten your smile.
  • Wisdom Teeth: If your wisdom teeth are stuck or impacted, we can see exactly where they are before removal.
  • Jaw Joint or TMJ Problems: We can check the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) to help find the cause of jaw pain or clicking.
  • Airway Checks: For patients with sleep apnea, the scanner helps us see your airway to plan proper treatment.

It’s normal to worry about X-rays. But rest assured, our Cone Beam CT Scanner is safe. It uses a low dose of radiation and takes images quickly, which means less exposure. If you are pregnant or think you may be, always tell us so we can keep you safe.
